In this project I was given the task to design part of a visitor centre for Seaton Deleval Hall that would sit on a plot nearby. Firstly I created a site plan that separated the buildings (into: Brewery, Reception/ticket-booth and Restaurant). I then chose the brewery to create a developed design of, utilising the former brewery building which sat on the site.
The new buildings cut through and sat against the existing building, the cut through was done by extending the original building upwards so it made little structural impact on the brick brewery. The cut through (in the form of a glass bridge) allowed visitors to see into the brewing process while meaning they would create little impact to the process and workers. The glass bridge allowed educational, tasting and shopping areas to be linked not only by an external path but also internally.
A new building was also added on the opposite side that allowed office space and storage space for the brewery. This connected to a small car park for workers with a separate entrance for the brewery and its deliveries.ALL WORK Delaval Hall Bridge
